Creativity is at the heart to all innovation and proves important to the growth of a company. Studies show that out of 100, there are 3 to 5 people around the world who do not like listening to music but yet you do not need to be Mozart to understand the seven basic elements of music. They are tempo, dynamics, pitch, rhythm, melody, timbre and texture. Modern science has shown that creativity is not reserved solely for artists and geniuses. With the advancement of technology, tools like video chat have become invaluable in facilitating remote collaboration and brainstorming sessions, connecting creative minds across the globe.

Creativity and Success

The main reason I want to talk about this more “material” success is because it is rarely talked about in connection with creativity. We don’t usually put the two ideas together. In fact, it’s much more likely that when you think of a “creative” person, you imagine a “starving artist” type someone who enjoys the creative process, creates art or music, and doesn’t really care much about money, acclaim, or other “worldly” successes.

Why Creativity is Key? The road to future success

We live in a rapidly changing world full of new technologies. Today’s kids need different skills and abilities to head towards a successful future career. ‘21st Century Skills’ include problem solving, technique and last but not least; creativity. Every child has the potential to be a creative genius! Studies prove creativity is not something that one has or hasn’t got.

Innovation and Creativity are Key to Success

Innovation and creativity are different, but both are necessary for business success. Creativity refers to generating new and novel ideas whereas innovation refers to the application of ideas, and often is a collaborative effort. In other words, innovation is applied creativity. Over the past years innovation and creativity have become critical skills for attaining success.

What Does Creativity Look Like in the Workplace?

Comfortable with ambiguity: They expect change as part of their business strategy. They even invite disruption in the form of innovative ideas that replace outdated methods.

Courageous and passionate: Creatives will take risks on unprecedented ways to change the department and/or organization for the better.

Intentional: When the Forrester study asked participants how they pursue creativity in their businesses, more than half said they hold regular brainstorming sessions.

Insightful and Imaginative: Creatives encourage innovative ideas from their employees. This imaginative element inspires workers and results in greater productivity.

Creativity makes you Happier and More Content

In some ways, this contradicts the hackneyed notion of the long-suffering artist. But in reality, doing something creative daily can make you happier and more productive. Creativity is a muscle that gets stronger with use. Creative people are often thought of as mysterious, but there’s nothing magical about their ability to develop new ideas.

Don’t try to Measure Results Too Quickly

If an innovative idea doesn’t produce desirable results within a few months, you may consider discarding it entirely. Doing so could result in a lost opportunity because some ideas take longer to yield positive outcomes. Patience is an important element of creativity, so don't try to measure results too quickly. Give your team the freedom to improve and experiment without the pressure of strict time constraints.
